Kalash is the most fundamental part of Vedic rituals. This is meant to hold water during religious rituals. It may also be placed with due rituals on all important occasions like the traditional house warming (Graha Pravesh), wedding, daily worship and the like, by placing rice/water inside it and mango leaves at its mouth and coconut in the centre of leaves and a red or white thread around its neck. When the pot is filled with water or rice, it is known as purnakumbha representing the body which filled with the divine life force gains the power to do all the wonderful things that makes life what it is.
