A Toran is hung across the top of the main entrance door. The Toran is hung to invite the blessings of the Goddess of wealth, Goddess Laxmi, into the house.
The cloth handmade Toran is made by craftsman from the South of India. This Toran is primarily of Red colour with the patch work of Nandi, the Bull who serves as guard and mount of Lord Shiva and the Divine Shivling as the main theme. The Shivling is in Blue colour cloth patchwork, complete with a Golden garland and Nandi in White colour cloth patchwork on both sides of the Shivling. There is a Green and Yellow colour flower on the left and right of both the Nandi patchworks. There is a border of Golden Zari (lace) on the rectangle cloth, comprising the Shivling and Nandi. Below this are cloth shaped like petals in Black, Yellow, Red colours with tiny patchwork designs on them. The Toran is rustic yet with a good finish.
This rustic and beautiful Toran can be hung outside the main entrance door of house, shops or office. It is a good gifting idea.
